About Jennifer May Reiland
Jennifer May Reiland is based in Brooklyn. Her work combines historical research and a personal symbology to create serial narratives that continue through multiple drawings. These works were created over a period of several years when she was researching and responding to the history of bullfighting after a period of working in Spain.
She is a graduate of Cooper Union and has been granted residencies by Open Sessions at The Drawing Center, the Harriet Hale Woolley Scholarship and the Sharpe Walentas Studio Program. Her work has been shown at museums and galleries including The Drawing Center in New York, Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac in Paris, and the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston. Her most recent project is a book from Spuyten Duyvil Publishing which pairs her paintings with a new translation of the Book of Revelation
