Born in Ulm, Germany. Lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.

 

Daniel Rich translates photos into paintings that call attention to implicit political and social narratives transcribed in the built environment.

 

Daniel Rich received his BFA from The Atlanta College of Art in 2001 and an MFA from The School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and Tufts University in 2004. Upon graduating he attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture and in 2010 was awarded The Marie Walsh Sharpe Foundation Studio Grant. He has been the recipient of a NYFA Grant for Painting in 2012 and is represented by Peter Blum Gallery in NY. Rich has exhibited his work at Mario Diacono Gallery, Boston, Perry Rubenstein Gallery, Elizabeth Dee Gallery and at Horton Gallery in New York, Andrew Rafacz Gallery in Chicago and The Maramotti Collection, Reggio Emilia, Italy. He most recently exhibited his work in his first one-person museum show at the MFA Boston in 2012.

 

Daniel Rich's first solo show at Peter Blum Gallery, New York, opens on January 23rd (ends March 15th).
