Born in 1989, Houston, TX.

Lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.

Jennifer May Reiland’s paintings and drawings examine the collapsed distinction between reality and image in a post-9/11, post-Internet world. Her work blurs the line between fantasy and reality, past and present. She draws from research about historical events such as the re-conquest of Spain, the Spanish discovery of the New World, World War I, and 9/11. Her drawings are not just works on paper; they present meticulously created, immersive alternate realities.

Jennifer received her BFA in 2011 from Cooper Union. In 2012, she was awarded the Harriet Hale Woolley Scholarship and spent 10 months as a resident artist of the Fondation des Etats-Unis in Paris. In 2014, she was selected for the Sharpe-Walentas Studio Program (formerly Marie Walsh Sharpe Program) in DUMBO and will be working out of the awarded studio until September 2015.

Her work as been exhibited in Paris, New York, Houston, Miami, and Palma de Mallorca.
